...To Be Loved (12 minutes, Hi8 video),
is my first documentary and was filmed over 4 months in Philadelphia
and Washington DC in 1994. Amon Rappaport, my partner on the project,
and I simply took a videocamera and microphone into the streets
looking for people who were homeless and were willing to talk with
us.
The result is an honest, moving film where homeless
persons and one formerly homeless person speak candidly about life
on the streets of urban America. Subjects discussed include: drugs,
the military, the shelter system, panhandling and, of course, love.
